The science and practice of wood conservation

Invitation (PDF)

Lectures by Teodoro Auricchio, Director of The European Institute of Conservation, Ischia, Italy
A session in the conservation laboratory with Alice Dias, a specialist in wood conservation, Studio Oro, Jerusalem.

The conference offers a theoretical and practical approach towards wood conservation: ethics, diagnosis (diagnostics) and intervention.
In the laboratory we will be introduced to the tools of the wood conservator, and learn how to detect the layers of time in the wooden artifacts by using UV and Infra-Red devices, researching the patina and experimenting with cleaning.
