From Italy to Jerusalem
An Exhibition at the Knesset of Hanukkah Lamps from the Collection of the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art
This exhibition of precious Hanukkah lamps from the collection of the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art brings its visitors into a unique Hanukkah atmosphere, through a magical interplay of lights, shapes and features. The Hanukkah Lamps of the Nahon Museum are Italian either by production or ownership. Each object is distinguished by its elaborate shapes and decorations, and the Italian artistic milieu is apparent in the luxurious style and varied motifs. A few of these Hanukkah Lamps have different origins, from the area known as Ashkenaz in Northern and Eastern Europe. Others were created in Italy but reflect the shape and style of North Africa. All of them present the diverse historical and geographical experience of the Jewish communities in Italy.
