Visit of students from the Hebrew University
Graduate and undergraduate Students of the course “ARTISTS & SCRIBES: ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS” taught by Dr. Sarit Shalev-Eyni, of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, visited the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art and participated in a unique session dedicated to the study of illuminated manuscripts.
The students were granted a rare opportunity to handle the antique manuscripts from the museum’s collection. The museum curator, Dr. Andreina Contessa, specified the important aspects of the illuminated manuscripts displayed; emphasizing the technique, cultural encounters, symbols, ornaments and more. Thus, creating a discourse concerning the complexity of the medium and its visual language.
